Power management IC sourcing
DC-DC converters, LDOs, PMICs, chargers, gate drivers and supervisors, by complete ordering code or by specification. We check the suffix, package, reference voltage and temperature grade against your requirement before we quote, so the part that arrives is the part your board was designed for.
- Active, NRND, obsolete and allocated parts; samples to production
- Representative datasheet parameters checked line by line
- Candidates for EOL parts listed with every number that changes

What a power IC quote depends on
Send what you have. A complete ordering code is fastest; a requirement works too, and we come back with candidate codes.
- Complete ordering code, including output option, package, temperature grade and packing letters
- Quantity and target date, so we can compare distribution, independent stock and factory lead time
- Packing: a reel suffix and a tube suffix are different orderable parts at different prices
- Date code window, if your quality system limits the age of stock
- Alternative rule: original only, discuss first, or your approved list
- Operating conditions for a requirement: Vin range, Vout, load current, ambient temperature
The quote line states the source channel, packaging, date code, lead time and validity. Nothing is substituted without your written approval.

How to specify each subfamily
What makes two parts interchangeable is different in every subfamily. These are the checks our engineers run before a candidate goes on a quote.
The six tabs below cover the numbers that decide a swap, the trap we see most often in each subfamily, and what to send so we can quote without guessing.
What defines the part. Topology, input range, output current, switching frequency, reference voltage, compensation (internal or external) and the package thermal pad.
Numbers to check. Vref, fSW, RDS(on) of the switches, maximum duty cycle, light-load mode (PWM, pulse skipping or Eco-mode).
Common trap. A part with the same current and package but a different Vref or frequency needs a new feedback divider, inductor and often new compensation. A 150 kHz LM2596 design uses inductors in the 33–68 µH range; a 500 kHz part runs with much smaller values, and the old inductor can push it into the wrong ripple and loop behaviour.
Отправьте нам: Full MPN, or Vin range, Vout, Iout, package, ambient temperature and whether the inductor and feedback resistors can change.
What defines the part. Input range, output voltage (fixed or adjustable), current, dropout at your load, quiescent current, output-capacitor requirement, package.
Numbers to check. VDO at your current, Iq, PSRR if it feeds an ADC or RF, θJA of the package on your board.
Common trap. Output-capacitor stability. Older bipolar LDOs such as the 1117 family are compensated by the ESR of a tantalum output capacitor (AMS1117: 22 µF tantalum). Moving them to a low-ESR MLCC, or replacing a CMOS LDO with a 1117, can cause oscillation.
Отправьте нам: Full MPN, or Vin, Vout, load current, output capacitor type, and the board copper available for heat.
What defines the part. The processor it powers, rail voltages, power-up and power-down sequence, interface (I²C or SPI) and any one-time-programmed defaults.
Numbers to check. Default voltage of every rail, sequence timing, charger and power-path limits if integrated.
Common trap. Variants with the same base number boot with different rail voltages. TPS65217C sets DCDC1 to 1.5 V for DDR3; TPS65217D sets it to 1.35 V for DDR3L. Fitting the wrong one feeds the memory the wrong voltage at first power-up.
Отправьте нам: Exact suffix, processor and memory type, and the board revision the PMIC was validated on.
What defines the part. Cell chemistry, regulation voltage, charge current, termination and precharge settings, input range, power-path.
Numbers to check. Regulation voltage and tolerance, maximum charge current, thermal regulation, input overvoltage rating.
Common trap. The regulation voltage is in the suffix. MCP73831 comes in 4.20 V, 4.35 V, 4.40 V and 4.50 V versions. A 4.35 V part on a 4.20 V cell overcharges it; check the cell datasheet before approving a substitute.
Отправьте нам: Full MPN with the voltage option, cell type and capacity, and charge current.
What defines the part. Low-side, half-bridge or isolated; offset voltage, peak source and sink current, propagation delay, UVLO level, input logic thresholds.
Numbers to check. High-side offset voltage, peak current, delay matching, isolation rating and approvals for isolated parts.
Common trap. Same pinout, different voltage class: IR2110 is rated to 500 V on the high side and IR2113 to 600 V. On a 400 V bus the extra margin matters, so the two are not freely swapped.
Отправьте нам: Full MPN, bus voltage, switching frequency, MOSFET or IGBT gate charge, and safety approvals needed.
What defines the part. Reset threshold, reset timeout, output type (push-pull or open-drain), active-high or active-low, manual reset and watchdog.
Numbers to check. Threshold voltage and tolerance, timeout, supply current.
Common trap. The threshold letter is the part. MAX809 L, M, J, T, S and R suffixes trip at 4.63, 4.38, 4.00, 3.08, 2.93 and 2.63 V. A 3.08 V part on a 3.3 V rail can reset on a normal load step if the rail sags.
Отправьте нам: Full MPN with threshold letter, supply rail and its tolerance.
Six problems buyers find after the order
Each of these looks fine on a quote and fails on the board. We check for them before a line is quoted.
Output rail is wrong after a “compatible” swap
Different reference voltage; the same divider sets a different output
Vref of both parts
Regulator oscillates
1117-type LDO given a low-ESR ceramic output capacitor, or the reverse
Output-capacitor requirement in the datasheet
LDO goes into thermal shutdown
Dissipation (Vin − Vout) × Iout too high for the package
θJA on your board and maximum ambient
Fixed 5 V part arrives instead of the adjustable one
LM2596S-5.0 and LM2596S-ADJ differ only in the suffix
Output option letters on every line
Board resets or charges a cell to the wrong voltage
Threshold or regulation voltage set by a suffix letter
Supervisor threshold, charger voltage option
Industrial unit fails at −40 °C
Commercial-grade part (0 to 70 °C) quoted for an industrial line
Temperature-grade letter; AEC-Q100 grade for automotive
Worked example: one divider, two outputs
The output of an adjustable buck is set by Vout = Vref × (1 + R1 / R2).
A board built around a TPS54331 uses R1 = 31.6 kΩ and R2 = 10 kΩ. With its 0.8 V reference, that gives 3.33 V. Both TPS54331 and TPS5430 are 3 A TI step-down converters in 8-pin SOIC-class packages, so they often appear together in a search. With the TPS5430’s 1.221 V reference, the same divider gives 5.08 V on a rail that feeds 3.3 V logic.
The two parts also differ in input range, frequency, pinout and thermal pad. They are not alternatives. When we list a candidate, the quote shows every one of these numbers next to the original. Send your part number to see them for your line.
Worked example: LDO heat
An AMS1117-3.3 in SOT-223 drops 5 V to 3.3 V at 0.8 A. It dissipates (5 − 3.3) × 0.8 = 1.36 W.
With θJA around 60–90 °C/W on a typical two-layer board (it depends on copper area), the junction rises 80–120 °C above ambient. At 40 °C ambient, that reaches or passes the 125 °C limit. A buck converter, or an LDO in a package with an exposed pad, is the fix, and it changes the BOM. Upload the BOM and we quote the changed lines together.
Three requests we see, and how we handle them
Each started as a short message with a part number. What we check, and in which order, decides whether the buyer gets a usable part or a second failure.
"ICL7660s from a marketplace overheat"
Check the supply first: the ICL7660 is rated to 10 V; the ICL7660S and ICL7660A extend to 12 V and need no external diode across their range. Then check the source: generic ICL7660s are widely copied. We quote ICL7660S/A or MAX1044 from a stated channel and photograph the markings on arrival.
"The ADP3170 controller is obsolete"
The ADP3170 is a single-phase core-voltage controller for Intel VRM 8.5 designs, with a VID input that sets the output. Any replacement has to match the VID table, the drive scheme and the feedback design, so there is rarely a drop-in part. We search for remaining stock, state its date codes, and recommend X-ray before you buy. In parallel we tell you if a board change is the realistic exit.
"The stock disappeared when we paid"
Independent stock is offered to several buyers at once. Our quote line says whether the source is confirmed or being confirmed, and how long the price holds. We confirm the quantity again before the proforma invoice, not after payment.

Quality checks for power parts
Power ICs are among the most copied parts in the open market, because the popular lines are cheap to imitate and hard to test without a load.
- Markings, logo and date code checked against the manufacturer's marking scheme
- Extra attention to widely copied lines: LM2596, AMS1117, ICL7660, IR2110, MP1584
- Exposed-pad packages checked for pad finish and coplanarity
- Moisture-sensitive packages shipped in sealed bags with desiccant and humidity card (J-STD-033)
- X-ray, decapsulation or a load test by an independent laboratory when the risk calls for it, quoted before you order

Power management questions
Can you quote one regulator part number?
Yes. Send the complete ordering code, quantity and target date. We reply within 24 hours with a quote or the questions we need answered.
Is TPS5430 a replacement for TPS54331?
No. They differ in reference voltage (1.221 V vs 0.8 V), frequency (500 vs 570 kHz), input range, pinout and thermal pad. A candidate list for either part shows these numbers side by side.
Can I replace an AMS1117 with a modern LDO?
Usually, and it is often an improvement, but check the pinout, the output-capacitor requirement, dropout at your current and the package heat path. CMOS LDOs such as AP2112 are ceramic-stable but have a lower input-voltage limit (6 V).
Do you supply factory-programmed PMICs?
Yes, as the exact orderable variant the manufacturer programs. We do not program PMICs. The suffix that carries the sequence and default voltages must match your design.
My power IC is EOL. What do you need to look for stock?
The original MPN with suffix, quantity, acceptable date-code range and the conditions that cannot change. We quote remaining stock and, separately, candidates with their differences.
Do you sell AEC-Q100 parts?
Yes, as the qualified orderable code, usually with a -Q1 or similar suffix. The grade (for example Grade 1, −40 to 125 °C) is stated on the quote line.
Can you sell less than a full reel?
Often. Cut tape or partial packs where the source allows, at a higher unit price than a full reel.
How do you check parts from independent sources?
Visual inspection in-house against a documented checklist; X-ray, decapsulation or electrical tests by an independent laboratory when the order needs it, quoted before you order.
How long is a power IC quote valid?
The validity is written on each line. Independent stock usually holds for a few days; distributor and factory quotes hold longer.
